Rổ Vietnamese was born from a deep love for food, culture, and community. Founded by Annie, a Melbourne-raised Vietnamese-Australian, the brand reflects her lifelong connection to Vietnamese cuisine and her belief that food has the power to bring people together.

Growing up in Melbourne, Annie was spoiled with some of the best Vietnamese food outside of Vietnam. From bustling local eateries to home-cooked family meals, Vietnamese cuisine was everywhere—fresh, vibrant, comforting, and full of heart. Food was never just something to eat; it was how people connected, celebrated, and cared for one another.

In 2015, Annie moved to London to begin a new chapter. While inspired by the city’s diverse food scene, she struggled to find Vietnamese food that was both tasty and accessible—food that captured the balance, freshness, and soul she grew up with. What began as homesickness slowly became a vision: to share authentic Vietnamese flavours with the people of the UK, in a way that suited modern, fast-paced lives without compromising on quality or care.

At the heart of Rổ Vietnamese is Annie’s family story. She is the daughter of proud Vietnamese refugees who fled their homeland after the war, surviving a perilous journey at sea. When their boat began to sink, they were rescued by a passing Dutch ship—an act of kindness that changed their lives forever. Her parents later settled in Australia, where they dedicated themselves to giving back, supporting other refugees, and keeping Vietnamese history and culture alive. Their resilience, generosity, and gratitude deeply shaped Annie and the values behind Rổ Vietnamese.

The idea for Rổ Vietnamese came together during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020—a time that highlighted the importance of community, nourishment, and connection. After years of planning, perseverance, and heart, Rổ Vietnamese proudly opened its doors in May 2024.

Today, Rổ Vietnamese is more than a place to eat. It is a reflection of heritage, resilience, and love—where every dish is made with intention, every flavour tells a story, and every customer becomes part of the journey.

what does Ro mean?

Rổ means basket in Vietnamese.
Woven from bamboo, it represents resilience, simplicity, and strength.

A rổ is part of everyday life in Vietnam—used to carry food, share meals, and support communities.

At Rổ Vietnamese, it symbolises what we do: gathering fresh ingredients, culture, and people together—served with care.
